Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) – Preparation Instructions

 

What should you know?

 

Please follow the recommendations below:

  • Do not consume caffeine-containing foods, beverages, or medications for 12 hours before the examination.
    (Examples: coffee, tea, chocolate, energy drinks, Coca-Cola, and medications containing caffeine.)
  • Do not eat for 4–6 hours before the examination.

On the day of the examination:

  • Do not smoke or consume alcohol.
  • Take your prescribed medications as usual, except for medications containing caffeine.
  • If necessary, shave the chest area before the examination and do not apply creams, lotions, or other cosmetic products.

Please Inform the Clinic If You:

  • Have chronic kidney disease.
  • Have a pacemaker, an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), or any other metallic implant.
  • Have undergone coronary artery stenting. (The examination can be performed only if more than 8 weeks have passed since the stent placement.)

On the Day of the Examination

Please bring:

  • Form 100 completed by your cardiologist.
  • Your echocardiography report.
